The importance of listening

Updated: Oct 12, 2019

As a parent of a 3 , 6 and 9 year old, I am understanding why listening and respect are some of the most important disciplines we need to teach our children from a very early age.

Children who listen to their elders and respect their environment (both home and social) are better equipped to take instructions and are less distracted. This leads to more self reliance and self awareness increasing their learning capability and overall self confidence.

Children who  listen in their younger years they are more likely to listen and take advice in their teenage years making parenting easier and more enjoyable. The same rule generally applies to the amount of quality time parents spend with their children. The more engaged we are as parents from an early age the more we enjoy hanging out with our children later on in life.

As parents we need to think and act long term, we are responsible for how our children enter the world as young adults, and for how well they respect other people and their environment. We cannot rely on schools to do a parents job.
